Mutte Storm - Vintage kilims & rugs webshop

Kilim is the term for a flat-woven rug. The traditional hand woven kilims are mainly woven by nomadic women and
village women in e.g. Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Caucasus, Afghanistan  and are extremely versatile.

Most of the handmade vintage and antique kilims you find at Mutte Storm Kilims & interior Design are mostly made of sheep wool, some are made of goat wool or of cotton. They are woven with different techniques and sometimes partly with hand knotted piles.

They contain beautiful patterns and symbols, yarn can be hand spun, colors can be natural or synthetic, depending on the age of the kilims. There is a great variation in patterns and colors, depending on which area the rugs come from.

The Large old kilims are very popular for modern interior style today with their uniqueness and bright warm colors. Mutte Storm recommend to use the carpet in your interior as you like – e.g. on the wall to give it an Oriental look, or you can lay it on your table, on a daybed, a sofa or on the floor.
